MAP of
the New World was drawn in 1500 by Juan La
Cosa, navigator on Columbus' second voyage.
A large mainland is depicted north of Cuba,
but no first hand knowledge of its topography
is indicated. The Tropic of Cancer is about
13 degrees too far south, an error copied by
map makers for many years. (Naval Museum, Madrid) 1437 x 1573 Pixels |
