| THIS DUTCH MAP drawn by Peter van de Aa about 1725 was widely circulated in Europe as the "De Soto Map." It appears to be a close copy of the Sanson maps of 1650-56 but with the Soto landmarks moved south more correctly. A series of "Septentrionalis" maps from 1689 repeats this Soto order. This map is distributed today as a souvenir of the De Soto Memorial Park at Bradenton. (Library of Congress) | ||
