1774 Charlotte Harbor Map - Bernard Romans

BERNARD ROMANS' MAP
of 1774 was a hurried attempt to assess the territory acquired by England through secession a few years earlier. His shore lines were determined largely by eye and from information by local guides. Minimum channel depth of 15 feet was noted for Boca Grande Pass into the harbor that Romans re-named after Queen Charlotte. (Library of Congress)
