Moral Values Largest Factor in New Political Era

It is understandable that blue-state liberals are in a blue funk, and red-state conservatives are tickled pink.

A generation of struggle between the two political ideologies has culminated in victory for old-fashion cultural values of family, faith and flag.

President George W. Bush – nee "Dubya" – won reelection by a 3.6 million majority of popular votes, 51 percent versus Kerry’s 48.

This is the first time since 1960 that a president has polled more than half the electorate. And the first time since 1988 when President George W’s father polled 53 percent.

In the Electoral College tally – the only one that counts – Bush racked up 286 votes versus Kerry’s 252. Four years ago, Bush won with 271 electorals -- just 1 more than the minimum requirement.

It is clear that Bush’s appeal to middleclass, church-going folks made the winning difference.

They are hard working, family oriented, God fearing Americans who believe in the right to life of babies and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.

All eleven ballot initiatives in various states defining heterosexual marriage passed overwhelmingly.

Early reaction of Democrat party leaders is that the liberal ideology of Franklin Roosevelt is history. The pit-bull attacks on all things conservative are self-destructive.

Bye bye Terry McAuliffe, nay-saying chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

The defeat of former Democratic Senate leader Tom Daschle of Iowa – whose approach to all things Republican was no, no, no – opens the door to realignments.

His cabal of political dinosaurs include Edward Kennedy, Robert Wright, Carl Levin and Nancy Pelosi.

Most heartening of all is emergence of a citizenry demanding decency in the entertainment industry.

A large majority of Americans now speak out against foul mouth rock singers, sexual innuendo TV and politically slanted movies.

The political race was over for Kerry when a gaggle of Hollywood types staged a big bucks benefit for him. Whoopie Goldberg and Barbara Streisand took turns dissing Bush with gutter epithets.

Kerry hugged them and gushed: "These represent the values of America!"

The prize for anti-Bush depravity goes to Michael Moore’s pseudo "documentary" hate movie Fahrenheit 9/11. Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels would have blushed.

That diatribe set off the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who raised zillions of dollars to expose Kerry’s questionable Vietnam War record.

A special group of liberal elitists to get their comeuppance was the old-line media. Namely, CBS, NBC, ABC, New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times.

CBS and New York times were discovered twice to be peddling anti-Bush documents known to be forgeries. ABC directed its producers to load their news reports with anti-Bush statements.

This is a disgrace – the result of letting a few show-biz types control the flow of information and shape our cultural values.

Where are the anti-monopoly laws when we need them?  Where are the real journalists universities are supposed to be training?

No wonder Internet bloggers – unhampered by groupthink -- have become an important counter balance to biased reporting,

Despite the distraction of campaign overload, elections last week went well. Electronic voting machines counted every vote quickly and reliably.

Now we can focus on polling overload. Trying to read the ebbs and tides of fickle voters is an exercise in futility.

Polls that try to discern mind changes daily is hocus-pocus. They are based on landline telephoning from published directories. Millions of cell phone subscribers are bypassed. There is a 25 percent inaccuracy in choosing respondents before the first call is made.

Exit polls are farce. They corner early voters, mostly women, willing to fill out a questionnaire. Most men vote after work.

This skewed sampling is done by two professional polling firms for the Associated Press and other media outlets catering to news junkies.

They botched the Gore-Bush campaign four years ago, and came near to skewing the election this year.

Americans pride themselves on the guarantee of a secret ballot. We need a law preventing any one from soliciting disclosure.

All in all, the elections went well. The winner has a mandate to govern. Left-wing liberals might as well relax and enjoy it. A new, political era is underway.
