Terror Attacks On Mumbai Part Of World War III?

Mumbai Bombing collage - 2008

The brazen, deadly, terrorist attack by 10 Kashmir terrorists against landmark hotels in India’s largest city, Mumbai is one more strike in the Islamic sub-rosa world war against “non-believers.”

At present count, 195 innocent people were killed in Mumbai -- including three Americans and 20 other foreigners. One terrorist has been captured, the others killed.

President Bush spoke to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and promised U.S. aid in the present terrorist situation:

“The killers who struck this week are brutal and violent, but terror will not have the final word. People are resilient. They have built a vibrant multi-ethnic democracy that can withstand this trial.”

KASHMIR PRIZE

India gained its independence from Britain through the Indian Independence Act of 1947. Ever since, India and Pakistan have fought for dominance of verdant Kashmir.

About 65 percent of Kashmir territory is administered by India, the remainder by Pakistan. Kashmir Muslims have agitated for reunification under full, independent Muslim control.

A separatist movement has organized to seek an independence that is opposed by both Pakistan and India. The four-day attack against prominent hotels in Mumbai was aimed at India.

It is believed the assault was carried out by the Kashmir separatist group Lashkar-e-Taiba. The terrorist group is based in Pakistan and fights Indian and Pakistan rule in Kashmir.

SLINGSHOTS VS. NUKES

Both India and Pakistan have nuclear bombs – how many are their closely guarded secrets.

Yet, they worry about control of Kashmir by their next-door neighbor. Oversized slingshots would be sufficient for those neighbors to square off.

Every one jousting for control of Kashmir should worry about neighboring Iran. The latter is busily engaged in building an atom bomb with Russia’s help.

Iran ’s Parsi and Moslems don’t like each other a little bit. However, they jointly threaten to “Wipe Israel off the map!

This is a matter of great concern. Israel has dozens of nukes at the ready and has often demonstrated it will strike first if threatened.

Nuclear Iran animation

The United States of America furnishes uranium for India’s civilian nuclear energy program. Sound familiar? It is the same kind of agreement Iran and Russia have with each other.

Iran is enmeshed with religious fervor and/or political frenzy. It is quite possible that a nut-hatch there will lob a nuke on Israel, and Israel will respond doubly.

History records that when a more deadly weapon is developed, a reason will be found to use it.

CORNERSTONE PREDICTIONS

Earth Crystal Ball

Your writer was asked in 1964 to predict the world situation a hundred years thence for a church cornerstone. (Click here for article.) Any one who predicts the future is ‘tetched in the head, but here is what I said about some key issues:

WAR: a third and final “world war” will be fought in Asia with the United States and Russia arrayed against China. Nuclear weapons will be used only on tactical and “propaganda” targets. Even so, the loss of life will surpass any previous conflict. The U.S. and its allies will win.

WORLD GOVERNMENT: The United Nations will ebb in effectiveness until the start of world War III. Victorious allies will reorganize the United Nations to a world police force for a strengthened World Court and World Bank.

Individual nations still will retain sovereignty, but many of the small nations will be welded into larger countries better able to compete economically in world markets. The United States and Canada will merge. Brazil will be a world power. Europe will be a commonwealth entity with its capital in Switzerland.

ECONOMICS: Under the impact of the costliest war in history, all nations will be bankrupted -- led by the downfall of U.S. currency. National credit commitments will be repudiated. The world will start over with international money based on gross national production.

POLITICS: In the U.S., constitutional republicanism will disappear, as will communism in Russia and dictatorships in the so-called “emergent” nations. The principal form of government in the world will be a combination of democracy and socialism best described as “benevolent state-ism.”
