This website contains four decades of archived writings by journalist, editorialist, and history author, Lindsey Wilger Williams, beginning as a family birthday gift in January 2004. Somewhat unexpectedly, this became a substantial and ongoing project, most of which has entailed the scanning or manual re-typing of original newspaper clippings. A Ricoh Aficio IS330DC scanner and OmniPage Pro character recognition software were used for machine transcription. Manual re-typing is almost entirely done by Lindsey's wife, Cona Violet Williams. Each editorial article reflects accurately the terminology of the time and the author’s contemporaneous opinions of current events. This catalogue of Lin’s writings provides a unique longitudinal perspective of events in America and the world through the eyes of one editorialist since the early to mid 1960s. As of Jan. 2008, the 1980's and '90's editorials are slowly being filled in and Lin continues to write weekly editorials for the website, having parted ways with the Charlotte Sun-Herald. The views expressed in this website are solely those of Lindsey Wilger Williams. If you have any questions about any of the articles, including any comments about misspellings or possible historical inaccuracies, please feel free to email Lin at LinWms@lindseywilliams.org . |
